OVERVIEW

The confirmation program at Our Saviours is a three year program designed to teach junior high students some
fundamental Christian beliefs and practices, as well as help them develop and grow a  relationship with our  Lord
Jesus.  The program uses a fun and interactive format in order to help students grow in their faith, and connect with the church.  By combining the large group lessons, with a small group format, we hope to help each student grow in their faith journey leading up to the Affirmation of
Baptism.  By connecting the youth with strong adult and high school mentors, and teaching them practical, relevant applications of faith to every day life situations, we hope  to bring the students closer to Jesus, and each other than ever before!

GOALS

1. To Grow in the Faith and Relationship with God, experienced through Jesus.

2.  To increase the desire to be among the church community

3.  To see students grow in Discipleship

4.  To help students find their place in the community

5.  To encourage and support parents as the primary faith growing influence in
     their children's lives.

Learning Event Weeks

Each learning week, the entire group will gather starting at 4:00.  During this meeting we will teach the lesson for the day.  The lesson is taught using interaction through music, multimedia, drama, and speaking.  The confirmation material is covered in a three year rotation, so by the end of the eighth grade year each student will have learned all the necessary confirmation material.  Each lesson covers the meaning and significance of fundamental Christian beliefs, as well as showing the importance of Knowing Jesus, and Making Jesus known.

Family Weeks

These are special weeks where we invite the families to join the confirmation students at the weekly event.  During these family weeks, we will experience a wide variety of activities, from dinners, to small group sharing - From bible study, to activities and games, these weeks give families a chance to grow in their faiths together outside of the home.

Small Group Weeks

During the  small group weeks throughout the course of the year, we will be asking small groups to participate in an event on their own.  This will give the students a chance to get together outside of normal learning weeks, and take their servant hearts, and relationships into the greater community.

Worship Notes

Worship attendance is one of the most important ways that we can explore our faith and grow in our relationship with God—There is no substitute!
During the course of the ministry year, we require that students not only attend, but also process and take worship notes from at least 25 of these services.  There will be a special worship note form that should be picked up, filled out, and dropped off, all on the day, or evening, of the attended worship service!

PLEASE NOTE - Being a Sunday School Assistant is not a worship experience, if you will not be able to attend worship outside of the hour you serve in Sunday School, please take that into Consideration when selecting an area to serve!

Requirements

All students enrolled in Confirmation will be expected to fulfill the following requirements:

1. Regularly attend throughout the course of the year.  (Students are allowed to miss 6
    weeks due to conflicts)

2.  Complete and pass all tests given during the year.

3. Attend worship regularly, and take worship notes during worship.  (25 notes required
   during the year)

4.  Serve in the Our Saviours community by signing up to serve on AT LEAST one team,
and participating regularly in that team.
