Come gather with other mothers of preschoolers twice a month on Monday mornings for MOPS.  We’ll make new friends, share stories of the joys and struggles of raising young children, and participate in other activities.  While the moms meet, your little ones (MOPPETS) will be in a program too!

For more information, contact Susan Walters-Flood or the church office at 630-355-2522.

Breaking News!

Our next MOPS meeting is Monday morning, April 14th at 9 am in the Our Saviour's fellowship hall.  Refreshments will be served by the Meadow Larks.  April 14th is also our first MOPS Book Club!  As a reminder, the books are:
The Namesake by Jhumpa Lahiri
The Glass Castle (A Memoir) by Jeannette Walls
My Sister's Keeper by Jodi Picoult
The Truth Teller by Angela Hunt

The 2008 MOPS Retreat, YOU Matter! was held February 23rd at Celebration! Family Life Center.  A huge, "Thank you!" to Susan and Jeanne for a great retreat and we hope all attending moms left the retreat refreshed and renewed.

There are still Celebrate Cooking! cookbooks available for sale.  Contact Susan Walters-Flood at susan@nuworldfamily.com for more information regarding cookbook sales.

What is MOPS?

MOPS is an outreach ministry for Mothers of Preschoolers.  MOPS moms gather twice monthly for 2 hours; their time together is spent in a variety of ways, all which allow them to grow spiritually, emotionally and socially as mothers, wives and women.  MOPS moms are led by the MOPS Steering Team - the decision and policy-making body of our group which is made up of MOPS members.

How do I join MOPS?

All MOPS moms are required to register for the program, so that we can be prepared for their participation as well as account for their childcare needs.  Click here to download the MOPS registration form.  For more information on registering, please contact Susan Walters-Flood at (630) 369-9524, or susan@nuworldfamily.com.  If you do not need childcare and would like to attend a MOPS meeting, please call Susan in advance so that we can be sure to have enough craft materials and handouts!

When do we meet?

MOPS starts in October and runs through May.  We meet from 9 am to 11 am, typically on the 2nd and 4th Mondays of each month.

What are MOPPETS?

MOPPETS are the children of the MOPS moms.  Since these children are preschool aged (ranging in age from 6 mos. – 6 yrs.), most moms have their children in tow for a MOPS meeting.  The MOPPETS program allows the moms to meet without interruption while their young children are being tended to by child care providers and are participating in a Christian-based learning environment.  Note:  children younger than 6 months attend the MOPS meeting with their moms.

Who are the child care providers?

Paid lead teachers and volunteering assistants make up the child care staff.  This year each classroom (divided up according to age) has one paid Lead Teacher.  This Lead Teacher is a consistent adult who will lead the classroom through a series of fully planned out activities for all of the 14 scheduled MOPS meetings.  The planned out activities include:  free choice playtime, a Bible lesson, a simple craft, snack time, video and large motor play. The volunteering assistants do just that – they assist the Lead Teacher in carrying out the planned activities.  Each activity provided is ready-to-go, easy and fun!
Need more information on MOPPETS or childcare?  Give Susan Walters-Flood (630) 369-9524 a call!
